Drumming Workshop for ages 8-12

This high-energy djembe workshop introduces children to West African drumming through interactive rhythm games that build listening skills, coordination, and teamwork. Beginning with a movement-based warm-up and progressing to fun activities like the “Switch Game” and drum-circle challenges, participants learn core drum techniques, steady time-keeping, and how to perform layered group rhythms together. By the end of the session, students will confidently play two contrasting rhythms and a dynamic drum break as part of an exciting ensemble performance.
