Home Education Book Club for ages 11+
Overview
This club brings young people together to read, discuss, and evaluate the longlisted and shortlisted titles for the Carnegie Book Awards. Participants shadow the awards by exploring outstanding contemporary children’s and young adult literature, developing their own informed opinions before the official winners are announced.
The club focuses on thoughtful reading, respectful discussion, and critical thinking. Learners are encouraged to consider themes, character development, language, and social context, while comparing their views with award criteria. Sessions include guided discussions, creative responses, informal debates, and optional writing activities. This group is best suited for age 11+. Come read with us!
