Welcome to Bravo Studios

Bravo Studios is a vibrant collective of local artists based in Knaresborough, working across painting, printmaking, textiles, and contemporary crafts.

Join us on Saturday, 3rd May from 10am to 4pm for our Open Studio event, where you can meet the artists, explore the studios, and view a wide variety of creative work produced in this exciting new space. Located just off Grimbald Crag Close—just around the corner from St James' Retail Park—Bravo Studios offers free parking and a welcoming atmosphere. Yorkshire Create will also be hosting family-friendly creative activities in their ground-floor studio, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Meet The Artists

Douglas Black

Douglas Black, aka Douglas Thompson, is a UK-based multidisciplinary artist.

With a rich background in theatre and creative practice, he creates unique art and performance pieces that stimulate conversation and connection. His work includes community-led projects, public art, and research into inclusive and participatory arts.

Heather Doyal

Heather Doyal is a knit designer and Craft Council of America certified knitting instructor. After living in the United States for thirty years, she recently returned to Yorkshire. She has been inspired by the beauty of Nidderdale and the emotions of coming home and reconnecting with family, friends, and the landscape and culture of North Yorkshire.

Sherry Doyal

Sherry is a maker, conservator and teacher.

Her botanic material and art objects are informed by her expertise as a conservator working with both natural science and history collections.

Emma Edgar

Emma studied printed textile design at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen. She now lives and works in North Yorkshire and creates hand drawn illustrations and prints. Inspired by a love of nature, vintage finds and children's illustration. Emma created the Knaresborough Chrismouse Trail and is interested in developing further art trails in Knaresborough.

Cate Quinn

Cate is a self-taught artist, who mainly works in pencil, pastel, watercolour and acrylic, but has also been inspired by David Hockney to experiment with computer-based tools to create images and is a keen photographer.

Her work is mainly based on the natural world and human form.

Cate has degrees in Zoology and Garden Design, so is keen to capture her subjects accurately but with a lightness of hand that captures their natural essence.
